Poppers are composed of nitrites (alkyl esters of nitrous acid). But be careful: depending on the origin and composition of the poppers, there can be considerable differences in the health risks. A regular examination of the ingredients of poppers is therefore essential. The following list explains the various nitrites contained in the most common poppers currently found in Switzerland. In particular, the effects of pentyl nitrite, hexyl nitrite, isopropyl nitrite and isobutyl nitrite on the body are examined in detail.

Advantages of poppers with pentyl nitrite or hexyl nitrite
Only poppers with the following two ingredients are available on our site www.planetas.ch, as we consider these nitrites to be less harmful to health:
- At www.mrpoppers.de we only offer poppers with the following two ingredients that are classified as less harmful to health:
- Pentyl nitrite (CAS 463-04-7): This nitrite is mainly used as it is considered less harmful to health.
- Hexyl nitrite (UFI V300-A06S-K00V-G02P): A newer nitrite from the manufacturer Lockerroom in Canada. It has similar or lower health risks than pentyl nitrite, which is why products with hexyl nitrite are also available in our online store.
Hands off poppers with these ingredients
We do not offer certain nitrites because they are classified as carcinogenic or highly toxic if inhaled. We therefore strongly advise against using poppers with the following nitrites:
- Isopropyl nitrite (CAS 541-42-4): We clearly distance ourselves from products with this questionable content, as there is a danger to life if inhaled and the substance is considered carcinogenic.
- Isobutyl nitrite (CAS 542-56-3): For example, found in products such as Quicksilver. We do not sell these nitrites as they are potentially carcinogenic and weaken the immune system.
There are also other terms for ingredients that can be found in Germany:
- Amyl nitrite: This is the older name for pentyl nitrite and is therefore harmless. Amyl nitrite is a collective term for all ingredients in poppers.
- Alkyl nitrite: A collective term for isobutyl nitrite, pentyl nitrite, isopropyl nitrite, etc. Poppers with these unclear ingredients are not recommended, as it is not clear which nitrite is actually contained in the bottle.
It is important to us that you always use poppers responsibly in order to achieve the desired effect without endangering your health. If you have any further questions about ingredients such as pentyl nitrite or hexyl nitrite, please do not hesitate to contact us.
