Poppers are volatile alkyl nitrites (e.g. amyl, isoamyl, isobutyl or isopropyl nitrite) whose vapours cause short-term vasodilation when they evaporate; typical effects include a feeling of warmth, a slight drop in blood pressure and short-term muscle relaxation. Originally used at parties and for relaxation during anal sex, poppers are now increasingly common in mainstream society.

Poppers are inhaled through the nose. Only open the bottle briefly and then close it again. When using for the first time, proceed with caution and take breaks. Stop immediately if you experience dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain or visual disturbances. Do not mix or combine with other substances (e.g. Viagra, Cialis).

Poppers of unknown origin, without certification. Poppers with the following ingredients should be avoided at all costs: isobutyl and isopropyl.

Only inhale the vapours, never ingest the liquid. This is life-threatening! So: do not drink, do not apply to skin/mucous membranes; avoid contact with eyes at all costs.

Poppers should always be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from light and upright. Do not store in the refrigerator. After use: close the bottle tightly, wash your hands. Do not actively participate in road traffic.
