Poppers are volatile alkyl nitrites (e.g. amyl, isoamyl, isobutyl or isopropyl nitrite) whose vapours cause short-term vasodilation when they evaporate; typical effects include a feeling of warmth, a slight drop in blood pressure and short-term muscle relaxation.
