Effect of drugs
Depending on its composition and strength, the purpose of a drug is to bring about a physical or psychological change in the human body. Initially, drugs are increasingly used to achieve the desired pleasant state. If a person gets used to it too quickly, a kind of dependency develops. This dependency is detrimental to your own health.
Wide variety of drugs
The variety of drugs is broad. Typical illegal drugs are cocaine, cannabis or opiates such as heroin, which are subject to the Narcotics Act in many countries. These drugs are mostly banned, as the active ingredients are significantly harmful to health and addictive. Examples of so-called legal drugs are coffee, nicotine or alcohol, which are freely available everywhere. In many countries, the category of legal drugs also includes some painkillers, tranquilizers and stimulants. But to what extent are poppers considered a drug?
Are poppers drugs?
Poppers are sniffing substances that cause a brief state of intoxication. Consumption of the active ingredient causes a brief feeling of warmth, dizziness and palpitations. Other effects such as lack of inhibition, clearly noticeable muscle relaxation and a brief, unnoticed sensation of pain are very pleasant for many users. This is why the substance has been used in the gay scene for several decades. But unlike classic drugs, poppers are not addictive. That is why poppers do not belong to the category of drugs in the narrower sense.
Legal possession and consumption in Germany
This is why the possession and consumption of poppers is legal in Germany, as the substance is not subject to the Narcotics Act.
