What is rimming?
Rimming (also known as “anilingus”) refers to the oral stimulation of the anal rim and – depending on preference – the sphincter muscle. The “rimmer” uses tongue, lips and sometimes gentle sucking to stimulate particularly erogenous zones around the anus.
Why is it fun?
- Sensitive nerve stimuli: The anal area is extremely well supplied with blood and has many nerve fibers running through it – every touch can be intensely pleasurable.
- Deep intimacy: Getting so close to each other creates great trust and closeness.
- Variation options: Combine rimming with fingers, toys or gentle pats for varied sensual journeys.
Risks & hygiene
- Protection against infection: The anus and bowel can harbor bacteria or viruses (e.g. hepatitis A).
- Preparation: A warm shower and – if desired – a gentle enema make the experience more relaxing.
- Barrier protection: Dental dam or a small condom over the finger/toy minimizes the risk.
