What is a gay sauna?
A gay sauna is a sauna or steam bath that is visited especially (or predominantly) by men from the LGBTQ+ community. This is where relaxation meets social cruising: people come to relax, chat and, of course, meet like-minded people in a relaxed, often textile-free atmosphere.
Typical features
- Nudist rule: In most gay saunas, nudity is compulsory – textiles (apart from a small towel for sitting on) are usually not permitted.
- Sauna areas: There are different temperature zones (e.g. 60-90 °C), steam bath, relaxation rooms and often also a whirlpool or outdoor area.
- Cruising corners: Some saunas have separate areas (e.g. darkrooms, relaxation loungers) where flirting and more are discreetly possible.
