What does bottom mean?
In the gay scene, a “bottom” is the receiving role during sex – in other words, the person who is penetrated during anal sex. Bottoms usually take on a more receptive but by no means passive role: they have just as much say, just from a different perspective.
Features & facets
- Physical role: The bottom decides how far and how relaxed it lets go – it receives and feels the impulses of the top.
- Personality: Some bottoms like to let go submissively, others love to actively participate, for example through hip movements or visual feedback.
- Style: From soft enjoyment to “come here” gestures: Bottoms can communicate what they need with looks, words or body signals.
